It’s an odd feeling to place the number 7 before the word year. SEVEN YEARS, that’s a first grader! I smile and think of all the good, and not so good that has happened over the years. Three different locations (ugh), broken into twice (double ugh), more water (where it shouldn’t be) than I ever want to see again. We have seen our fair share of drama.
Then I think of all the faces. Those tiny little kid faces that are now emailing me to ask to be interns. Because they drive now (cringe) and want a summer internship and I’m thinking…aren’t you still 7? Those adult faces that are now emailing me about historically accurate sewing techniques and I’m thinking…didn’t I just teach you how to make a bobbin? Wow the time flies when you’re teaching. Here we are, 7 years and over 5000 students later, still here and having fun. We haven’t done so bad. This summer will be our 8th and our 5 interns are all from our first and second year of teaching sewing. I thought we’d never make it to Second Grade, but it feels good. ❤
